In 1939 he graduated from the Leningrad School of Music in composition class of P. B. Ryazanov and I. Ya. Pustylnik, in the class of conducting by I. A. Musin and B. Ya. Tilles.
In 1934-1939. - Head of the Leningrad Youth Pop Orchestra. In 1939-1941. - the leader of the Red Army orchestra. In 1941-1945. - Head of front-line exemplary brass bands. In 1952-1955. - Conductor of the pop orchestra of the Hermitage garden in Moscow. In 1956-1964. - Conductor of the instrumental ensemble of the All-Union Radio "Mayak".
Since 1965, artistic director, chief conductor of the Blue Screen concert and variety orchestra.
