Born on January 1, 1923 in the city of Pochep.
Studied at the theater school named after M.S. Schepkin (1940-1941), in 1951 he graduated from the directing department of VGIK (workshop of Igor Savchenko).
In 1941-1945 he worked as an aircraft technician at the factories of Kazan and Ramenskoye.
After graduation, he was a director at the Kuibyshev newsreel studio, in 1956-1958 he was a director at the Odessa film studio, then at the Lenfilm film studio.

He passed away on July 1, 1984 in the Bryansk region. He was buried at the cemetery "In memory of the victims of January 9" in Leningrad.
