Born on March 18, 1954.
In 1980 he graduated from the Moscow State Art Institute. V.I.Surikov (workshop of M.M. Kurilko and V.Ya. Leventhal).
1980-1988 - Chief Designer of the Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg) Opera and Ballet Theater.
In 1988-1990 he completed an internship at the Central Children's Theater (Moscow).
Since 1990 he has been working under contracts. Designed performances at the State Academic Bolshoi Theater of Russia, the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater, the Voronezh Opera and Ballet Theater, the Boris Eifman State Ballet Theater, the Moscow State Russian Ballet Theater under the direction of Vyacheslav Gordeev. Works in cinema, collaborated with such directors as Yuri Kara, Vladimir Khotinenko.
Since 1990, he has been constantly participating in the "Results of the Season" - an exhibition of works by Moscow theater artists (Moscow). Participated in numerous youth, republican and all-union exhibitions of theater and cinema artists.
Yu. Ustinov's sketches are kept in the State Central Theater Museum. A.A. Bakhrushin, St. Petersburg Theater Museum, P.I. Tchaikovsky in Klin, A.S. Pushkin on the Moika and in other collections.
Designed a number of performances at the Sverdlovsk Opera and Ballet Theater in collaboration with A.B. Titel. At the Moscow Academic Musical Theater. KS Stanislavsky and Vl. I. Nemirovich-Danchenko was the artistic director of two performances by A. Titel: "La Boheme" by G. Puccini (1996) and "The Tale of Tsar Saltan" (1997).
