She began her modeling career at the age of 12. At 18, she became a nationwide sensation with the release of the photo album "Santa Fe", where she appeared nude. The following year, Miyazawa attracted the attention of the Japanese public again when she announced her engagement to the popular and promising sumo wrestler Takanohana, but after a few months the engagement was canceled. At the same time, there is a conflict between Rie and her mother, who for many years served as a PR manager for her daughter. Due to family conflict and pressure from the press, Miyazawa attempts suicide. In 1996, the mentally and physically exhausted Miyazawa was sent to the United States for treatment. She soon returned to Japan, where she continued her career as an actress, first in television series, later in art pictures.
