Was born in St. Petersburg. He graduated from high school in Smolensk (1919). Member of the Civil War. He graduated from the Military District School of the Western District (1923), and in 1927 - the Institute of Screen Art. He starred in a number of films, wrote several scripts. Participant in the war with the White Finns and the Great Patriotic War. In 1945-1947 - editor at the Leningrad Chronicle Studio. In 1948-1949 he headed the script department of the Tashkent studio.
