Andrew McCarthy was born in New York. He became interested in acting at the age of 15, when he began to participate in school plays.
After graduating from high school, McCarthy entered New York University, where he attended theater classes.
In film, Andrew made his debut immediately in the title role in the movie "Class" (1983). The most famous roles of the actor were: "Mannequin" (1987) .... Jonathan Switcher; Bernie's Weekend (1989) .... Larry Wilson; Rock Mulholland (1996) ... Jimmy Fields.
In the 90s, the actor became less popular and starred little, but in 2004 McCarthy was again noticed after starring in the television series "Royal Hospital".
