Studied at the University of California at Santa Barbara and then attended the University of California, Los Angeles.
Ryan founded Relativity Media and became its CEO in 2004. In 2008, the company began partnerships with Sony Pictures, Entertainment, Lions Gate Entertainment, Walt Disney Pictures to finance their films until 2015.
He made his film debut as a producer of the short film "Jerry V. Death" (2005).
