Elena Kotelnikova graduated from the acting department of RATI-GITIS (workshop of P. Chomsky) in 1998. She worked on TVTs, Doverie (in the programs "Encyclopedia of Leisure", "City Palette"), "ITC" (news, "Central Person"), "Culture" ("News of Culture").
Elena Kotelnikova made her film debut in 2001 in the film Down House by Ivan Okhlobystin and Roman Kachanov, which is a comic interpretation of Fyodor Dostoevsky's The Idiot, where Prince Myshkin is presented as a dim-witted drug addict (brilliantly performed by Fyodor Bondarchuk), and Nastasya indulges in vodka.
