Claude Brosset was born on June 15, 1936 in the small French town of Juvisy-sur-Orge, near Paris. He never saw his own father. His mother gave birth to him at the age of 17, but soon became seriously ill, so Claude remained in the care of his grandparents. The family lived in poverty, but was fond of theater and literature.

In his youth, Claude Brosset became more and more interested in playing on stage, so he often takes theater lessons and enters the conservatory in Paris. Soon Brosset became a member of the troupe of the famous Comedie Francaise. Repeatedly acted as a stage director.

The actor had a memorable physical data, which rather resembled not Georges Dandan from Moliere's plays, but Don Juan. Throughout his acting career, he managed to play more than 80 roles in theater, cinema and TV shows.

In 1964, he first appeared on television in a play based on Shakespeare called The Wives of Windsor. The debut film with Claude Brosset One Man Extra, directed by Costa Gavras, is released in 1966. Other roles followed. In the 70s, he played Elder Sandoni in the film about the Algerian war by Yves Boisset called RAS.His repeated film partner Jean-Paul Belmondo, for example, in such films as The Corpse of My Enemy, Private Detective, Who's Who, Outlaw ... In 1978 he co-starred with his friend Pierre Richard in the film Escape.

In the 80s, Brosset continued to work on television, starring in detective stories and crime dramas. In addition to his acting career, Brosset took part in the voice acting of the French film distribution. In particular, he gave his voice to the heroes of Robert Duvall, and also the hero of the cartoon The Legend of Parva speaks in his voice.

The last film with Claude Brosset was released in 2007 and was called Agent 117. In it the actor played the role of the boss Jean Dujardin, better known by the nickname OSS 117.

On June 25, 2007, at the age of 63, the actor died of cancer and was buried in Paris.
