979 he moved to New York, where, together with his friend Paul Mones, he began writing the script for the film "Delamer Park". The picture never saw the light of day, but friends got a complete picture of all stages of the film's making. Gruvemuveend
Since 1980, Keelik has worked as a producer for many films: Jungle Fever, Do It Right, Better Life Blues, Fathers and Sons and Malcolm X.
In 1986, Keelik and Mounson began production of the film "Rhythm". The friends were helped by producers Julia Phillips and Nick Wexler. After the movie was released, John began collaborating with many directors: Jim Jarmusch, Oliver Stone, Robert De Niro, Tim Robbins, Bennett Miller and Gary Ross.
In 2003, Keelik returned to the University of Vermont, where he received an honorary doctorate and began teaching filmmaking.
In 2008, John Keelik took part in the creation of the movie "The Spacesuit and the Butterfly". The film was nominated for a British Academy Award and an Academy Award for Best Picture.
