American actor John C. McGinley was born in New York in August 1959 and spent his childhood in Millbourne. In his youth, McGinley realized that he wanted to work on the set, then he firmly decided to devote himself to an acting career.
John began his journey as a theatrical stunt double, and chance helped him get into the cinema. During the screening of one of the productions, McGinley replaced actor John Turturro. The latter could not go on stage that day, so an understudy was called in instead. By chance, director Oliver Stone's casting manager oversaw the performance. The viewer was impressed by McGinley's acting skills and invited Stone to take John in his new project.
The director agreed, which resulted in the 1986 release of the first film with John C. McGinley - the war drama Platoon. Initially, John was offered a tiny role, but McGinley was again lucky. One of the actors, John Spencer, dropped out of the project, and John was appointed in his place. Thus, McGinley was given a much more significant role. After filming Platoon, Stone called McGinley several more times in his films. Although John got mostly supporting roles, with the help of acting and charisma, he always managed to attract maximum attention to his characters.
