Soviet and Georgian actor, director, screenwriter, performer and songwriter Vakhtang Kikabidze was born in Tbilisi, where he was born in the summer of 1938.
In early childhood, Vakhtang was more drawn to drawing than singing. But one day, thanks to his mother, who was a professional singer, he found himself at a rehearsal of a variety orchestra. From that moment on, Kikabidze fell ill with music. Soon Vakhtang became a drummer in the student orchestra, where his brother took him. After graduating from school, Kikabidze continued his studies at Tbilisi University, but his passion for music prevented him from obtaining a diploma.
Since 1959, Vakhtang worked for some time at the Philharmonic. He went on tour, performing his own songs or singing over foreign vocalists. In 1967, Kikabidze became the soloist of Orero, a group founded by him and his friends. A year before the formation of the team, the first film with Vakhtang Kikabidze was released. It was the comedy-musical tape Meeting in the Mountains, filmed by Nikolai Sanishvili. And just three years later, Vakhtang got the main role in a film project of an all-Union scale - the film Don't Cry! directed by Georgy Danelia. The film thundered at film festivals and was liked by the audience.
