Born in North Carolina. Zach is the nephew of former US Congressman Nick Galifianakis. Father Zak's parents are immigrants from Greece. For religious reasons, the father and his parents and Zach belong to Greek Orthodoxy. Zach's mother is Scottish-Irish American. The actor has a younger sister, Merritt, and an older brother, Greg. Zach attended North Carolina State University but never graduated.
