From 1993 to 2009 he worked at the Theater of Russian Drama. Lesi Ukrainian in Kiev. The most famous production with his participation in this theater was the chamber performance "I Am Going Beyond the Land", directed by Olga Gavrilyuk, about the fate of the Ukrainian poet and dissident Vasily Stus. This was the first performance using the Ukrainian language in this theater. In this performance, Semisal played a major role, in addition, he was a co-author of the stage composition. Premiered in 2006, the performance received mixed reviews, both positive and negative. In 2014, Roman Semisal became the director and performer of the main role in the play "Private Shevchenko" at the Young Theater, timed to coincide with the celebration of the 200th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko. In the same year, Roman Semisal was included in the list of “Faces of the Cultural Year” by the newspaper “Mirror of the Week”.
