In 1995, Chapiron, together with director Romain Gavras, created the creative group Kourtrajme, in which they shoot their first short films (now the group has 135 active members, including Vincent Cassel and Romain Gavras). In 1995, together they made their debut in a sci-fi short film "Paradoxe Perdu", in which only two characters participate.

Kim's first independent film was the short film Little Beard, starring Vincent Cassel. Work on the five-minute tape was completed in 2002, Shapiron performed in several guises - director, scriptwriter and cameraman. In the same year, Kim tried himself as an actor, starring in a small role in the film "Substitution No. 4", filmed by his father Christian Shapiron.

In 2006 the full-length premiere of Shapiron, the thriller "Shaitan", took place. The script was written by Kim together with his father Christian, and the main role was played by Vincent Cassel, who also acted as one of the producers of the tape (along with Chapiron). Also among the actors in the thriller you can see Monica Bellucci, Leila Bekhti, Olivier Bartheleme, Roxanne Mesquida and many other actors. The world premiere of "Shaitan" took place on January 27, 2006, and it appeared in film distribution in May of the same year. The film has been screened at various film festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival, Melbourne, Gerardmer Fantastic Film Festival and Tribeca Film. The debut film drew attention to the young director in professional circles and was shown in forty countries around the world.

In 2009, viewers were able to get acquainted with the director's new brainchild - the crime drama "The Dog Pen", on the script of which Kim worked with Jeremy Delon. The story of the film revolves around three juvenile delinquents in the Montana Correctional Colony in the United States of America. Professionals from France, Canada and Great Britain were invited to work on the film. The leading roles are played by Adam Butcher, Shane Kippel and Mateo Morales. The French rapper Nikkfurie, the Texas post-rock band Balmorhea and the Canadian-Somali rapper K'naan were invited to create the soundtrack for the film. The world premiere of the film took place on April 24, 2010 and in the same year, at the New York Film Festival "Tribeca Film Festiva", Kim Shapiron won the main prize in the category "Best emerging author of feature films."

In 2010, Chapiron could be seen in the footage of his friend and colleague Romain Gavras's crime drama Our Day Comes, which also starred Vincent Cassel, the regular star in Kim's films. In parallel with this, Shapiron began work on his next film. In 2011 he became the author of the short comedy "Enfant de la partie", and in 2014 he released his new full-length picture. The premiere of the comedy "Prepaid Sex" took place on April 2, 2014. The screenplay for the film was written by Chapiron in collaboration with the young screenwriter Noe Debre. The plot of the tape tells about smart students in one of the prestigious business schools in France, who are not in the mood to waste time and decide to create their own escort services market, but in addition to business, love appears in the lives of the heroes. Three basic concepts of eroticism, sex and love appear in the film, and you can find out what exactly will be the most priority for the characters by watching Shapiron's one and a half hour painting. The film was nominated three times for the 20th Lumieres Awards, and the leading actors Jean-Baptiste Lafarge (as Louise), Tom Blumenthal (as Dan) and Alice Isaaz (as Kelly) were voted Most Promising Actors in the category.
