Carrie Snodress was educated at Northern Illinois University. There she became interested in dramatic art and then studied at the theater school in Chicago. As a graduate, she was already the recipient of the prestigious Sarah Siddons Theater Award.
After several television roles, she made her big screen debut in 1970 in Rabbit, Run. In the same year, she starred in Diary of a Mad Housewife, in which she earned two Golden Globe Awards and an Oscar nomination. At the peak of her success, the actress gave up her career and devoted herself to her chosen one, musician Neil Young, who became the father of her son Zeke.
Carrie returned to the big screen in 1978 with the film Fury. In 1981, she made her acting debut on Broadway. In the future, she continued to act quite a lot both in films and on television.
In March 2004, the actress was admitted to a Los Angeles clinic for a liver transplant, but died unexpectedly from kidney failure and heart problems at the age of 59.
