She began to study drama in high school. One later landed a role in a radio play for which she was advised to hire an agent.
Comer's career began in 2008 when she made a guest appearance on The Royal Today, a spin-off of The Royal series. This was followed by a number of appearances in the same popular British TV series as Holby City, Doctors, Silent Witness, Casualty, Law & Order: UK, Vera, Inspector George Gently. Jody began to gain more prominent roles on television after starring in the series Justice, Remember Me and E4. Most notable was the role of Chloe Gemmel in the three seasons of My Mad Fat Diary. Comer also appeared in the television adaptation of Lady Chatterley's Lover, filmed by BBC One in 2015. Jody appeared in the first season of Doctor Foster. In 2015, the actress landed a role in the BBC Three miniseries Thirteen, which follows 26-year-old Ivy Moxen. kidnapped at the age of 13 and imprisoned for 13 years in the kidnapper's basement until he escapes and is reunited with his family. The five-part series premiered on February 28, 2016.
