August 18, 1896 - March 25, 1969 - British film and theater actor who has achieved the greatest success in Hollywood. Born in London. While serving in the British Army during World War I, he was awarded the Military Medal of Bravery. After the war, he joined a theater company, with which he toured the United States. Under the pseudonym Alan Mowbray, the actor made his debut in 1931 in the film "God's Gift for Women." As a character actor, Mowbray has appeared in more than 140 films, among which We Live Merrily, The Adventures of Colonel Flack. During World War II, Mowbray played the role of the Devil in the comedy "The Devil with Hitler" .
In 1933, Mowbray was one of the founders of the Film Actor Guild of the United States. In 1953-1954, the actor got the role of Dumont in the television series Colonel Humphrey Flack. From 1954 to 1955 he played on the sitcom The Mickey Rooney Show: Hey Milligan .
Alan Mowbray died of a heart attack on March 25, 1969. He was buried in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City.
