November 4, 1904 - March 31, 1967 nee Jose Paige - American silent film actor. was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. He first studied agriculture at his father's ranch, but in 1922 he fled his home in Los Angeles. And as a teenager, hoping to find work in the developing silent film, he worked part-time in a candy factory. Then he met and became friends with the Mexican actor Luis Antonio Diamaso de Alonso - later he would become famous under the name Gilbert Roland.
Alvarado made his film debut in 1924, receiving a tiny role in the silent film Mademoiselle Midnight. Soon they began to assign him leading roles, mainly hero-lovers and Latin macho. The actor's career began to decline with the beginning of the talkie era. Alvarado returned to the secondary roles of the characteristic Spaniards - for example, in the film "The Bridge of King Louis Saint" (1929), based on the novel of the same name by Thornton Wilder) - and starred relatively regularly until the end of the 30s. In 1939, under the pseudonym Don Page, he began working as an assistant director at the Warner Bros. film studio, then became director of production and achieved significant success in this field. Together they made many successful films, including The Treasures of the Sierra Madre (1948), East of Paradise (1955) and Rebel Without a Cause (1958). His last work on the film The Old Man and the Sea. In 1924, Alvarado married sixteen-year-old Anne Boyar (1908-1990), the daughter of Jewish immigrants from Russia. In the same year, they had a daughter, future actress Joy Page. In August 1932, movie mogul Jack Warner persuaded Anne to divorce Don, and married her in 1936. In 1932 Don had an affair with the ballerina Marilyn Miller, but this relationship did not lead to marriage. Alvarado died of cancer in 1968, at the age of 62. to Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. He was buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery in the Hollywood Hills. Don Alvarado received a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his contribution to the development of the film industry.
