Born April 23, 1972 is an American screenwriter, director, actor and producer.
Graduated from Wesleyan University. He also earned an MA in Irish Literature from Trinity College Dublin and an MA in Creative Writing from the University of Iowa through the Iowa Writers' Workshop program.
Weiss's debut novel, Lucky Wander Boy, was released in 2003.
In 2006, Weiss, along with Josh Olson, was hired by 20th Century Fox to re-script the Halo video game film written by Alex Garland. The processing was completed in the same 2006.
In 2003, Weiss and David Benioff, who had been friends since their university days, were hired to script the screen version of Orson Scott Card's novel Ender's Game, starring Wolfgang Petersen, who was also the director of the film. This script was later dropped in favor of a new script written by Card himself.
Weiss also worked on the script for the prequel film I'm Legend, but that project was canceled. In May 2011, producer Francis Lawrence announced that the film was doomed from the start.
Since 2009, Weiss and David Benioff have been working on the fantasy series Game of Thrones, based on the books of George RR Martin, as producers and screenwriters.
