August 26, 1952 - March 30, 2003 - American actor.
In his youth, he dreamed of becoming a doctor and entered the University of Memphis at the Department of Medicine, but after studying there for some time, he became more interested in acting. He took part in productions of several plays at the local theater, and then, after leaving Memphis, moved to Baltimore, where he continued his career on the stage. He did not try his luck right away in New York, as he believed that it was rather difficult without membership in the labor union of actors. His tenacity and professionalism in acting eventually brought him to New York after being noticed by theater director Tommy Toon and invited to play in the play "The Ninth Cloud". Jeter achieved success in a short time and by the end of 1989 he had already made his Broadway debut in the musical "The Grand Hotel", for his role in which he was awarded the Tony Award the following year .
On television, he began to appear in the early 1980s in small roles in films and television series. On the screens, he usually played eccentric or brat, as in the films "The Fisherman King" (1991), "The Landing Zone" (1994) and "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" (1998). Sometimes he got and more serious roles, such as in the films "King of Air" (1997), "Green Mile" (1999), "Jurassic Park III" (2001) and "Open Space" (2003). In 1992, he won an Emmy Award for his role in the sitcom Evening Shadow. To younger audiences, he was known as Mr. Noodle in the children's show Sesame Street, which he starred in from 2000 to 2003. Michael Jeter was gay and openly gay. His regular partner was Sean Blue, whom he had been dating since 1995. After he became infected with HIV, he developed drug and alcohol problems. In a fairly short time, the actor almost completely wilted and stopped appearing on screens. His last film work was to voice two engineers in the animated film The Polar Express, which was released after his death and was dedicated to the memory of the actor. Michael Jeter died of an epileptic seizure on March 30, 2003 in Los Angeles at the age of 50.
