February 14, 1903, Squaw Valley - December 21, 1967, Beverly Hills - one of the most popular American television actors of the 1950s, nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in Leather Parade .
A quick-talking comedic actor with a uniquely gentle voice, Erwin began his career in Los Angeles theaters. In the early 1950s, he burst onto American television with his own sitcom, which he titled - "The Stu Erwin Show" .
In cinema, Erwin was no less successful - in the 1930s alone, about 30 films with the participation of the actor appeared on the screen. The date of his birth (Valentine's Day) became fateful: Erwin's main role, both on stage and on the screen, remained clumsy guys in love; among colleagues, the nickname "Comic Valentine" stuck to him for a long time.
Throughout his 40-year career, Stuart Erwin has played nearly 130 diverse roles. On December 21, 1967, he suffered a myocardial infarction from which he could not recover.
