December 11, 1908 - January 5, 1978 - American actress.
She was educated in Los Angeles, and the Eilers went to the cinema only because many of her friends starred in them. The young actress herself specialized in dancing. The first attempts of the Eilers failed, but after a while she returned, and then she was approved. Sally Eilers made her debut in 1927 in The Red Mill, directed by Roscoe Arbuckle. Then she played mostly minor roles in films. In 1928, in the WAMPAS Baby Stars advertising campaign, Ehlers became one of 13 promising girls in cinema. The actress gained popularity in Hollywood in the 1930s, where she was known for her good mood and cheerfulness. She has appeared in comedies and melodramas such as Easy Millions (1931), starring Spencer Tracy and George Raft. Sally married Hoot Gibson that same year, but their marriage ended in divorce in 1933. By the end of the decade, her popularity waned, and she appeared in films less and less. Ehlers finally finished her career in 1950.
Sally suffered from poor health in the last years of her life, and on January 5, 1978, she died of an acute myocardial infarction in Woodland Hills, California.
