March 27, 1927 - July 1, 1968 - American actress.
She was born in Los Angeles to a family of German immigrants. Her father, Alfred Weidler (1886-1966), before moving to the United States, was a prominent architect in Hamburg, and her mother, Margaret Mayer, was an opera singer. Weidler made her film debut at the age of four in the drama Traitor. In the following years, her career gradually gained momentum, the actress starred in the studios "Paramount Pictures" and "RKO", where she had roles in the films "Peter Ibbetson" (1935), "Ruined at Sea" (1937) and "Salem Girl" ( 1937) .
Her first success came in 1938 when she moved to MGM and appeared in Love Is a Headache starring Mickey Rooney. Further, the studio began to offer the actress other major roles in such films as "Too Risky" (1938), "Women" (1939), "All This And Heaven Too" (1940), "The Philadelphia Story" (1940) and Broadway "(1941). In 1943, after appearing in a series of failed box office films, Weidler completed her film career. By that time, the seventeen-year-old actress had appeared in more than forty films alongside such stars as Katharine Hepburn, Clark Gable, Betty Davis and Judy Garland. In 1945, she appeared on Broadway, where she played her final role in the play "A Life Full of Wealth" .
In 1947, Weidler married Lionel Crisel, whom she gave birth to two sons. After retirement, she lived a quiet, secluded life in Los Angeles, without appearing in public or giving interviews. Virginia Weidler died of a heart attack in the summer of 1968 at the age of 41.
