Jenny's father, Dr. Jorgen Skavlan, is the brother of the famous Norwegian journalist Fredrik Skavlan. Jenny is the great-great-great-granddaughter of the Norwegian merchant and consul Johan Ernst Movinkel.
In 1996, Jenny made her debut in Vibeke Idsse's A Journey Through the Human Body .
In high school, Jenny was the school news host for 2 years. After leaving school, she moved to Copenhagen, where she studied fashion and design.
