grew up in Sarasota, Florida. From the age of ten, she began to write short stories and send them to magazines. Her story was first published when she was thirteen.
From 1952 to 1953 she studied at Duke University, but left it because she got married and started a family back in 1951. During this period, she temporarily worked as a journalist, publishing articles in various home magazines. Throughout her journalistic career, Lois has written over 300 articles that have been featured in magazines such as Ladies' Home Journal, Redbook, McCall's, Good Housekeeping and Reader's Digest. The marriage, which gave Lois three children - Robin, Brett and Kerry, ended in divorce in 1959, after which she moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she taught journalism at the University of New Mexico, and where in 1977 she received a Bachelor of Arts in English ... In 1965, she married Donald Arquette and gave birth to two more children from him - Donald Jr. and Caitlin.
Duncan's is best known for her teen romances. Some of them were filmed.
