October 16, 1882, New York - February 6, 1949, Los Angeles - American producer. He began his career in 1917 and over a 20-year career became a renowned film producer for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. He created a comedy duo Dan and Arthur featuring Carl Dane and George C. Arthur in the late 1920s.
Rapf was also one of the founding members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He was buried in a cemetery in East Los Angeles, California.
His son was screenwriter Maurice Rapf.
