Harry Andrews was born on November 10, 1911 in Tonbridge, Kent. He was the son of Henry Arthur Andrews, a therapist, and Aya Diana Frances (nee Horner). Andrews attended Yardley Court School in Tonbridge and Wrekin College in Wellington, Shropshire. From October 1939 to October 1945, Andrews served with the Royal Artillery during World War II. Andrews died at the age of 77 on March 6, 1989 at his home in Salehurst.
Harry Fleetwood Andrews was a British actor known in films for portraying tough military officers.
Prior to his film career, Andrews was an accomplished Shakespearean actor, appearing in places such as the Theater Royal, the Lyceum Theater, and the Shakespeare Memorial Theater in Britain, as well as theaters in New York, Paris, Antwerp and Brussels.
