June 25, 1924, Philadelphia - April 9, 2011, New York is one of the most prolific and distinguished Hollywood directors of the post-war era, filming on average more than one film a year for half a century. Also acted as a producer, screenwriter and actor.
The pinnacle of his directing skills are considered to be the work that came out in the 1970s - mainly "Dog Afternoon" and "Television Network". Among his most successful films with critics and the public are also the first, Twelve Angry Men (1957), and the last, The Devil's Games (2007), released a few years after receiving an honorary Oscar for his contribution to the cinema.
