Born in Chicago, Illinois, USA - American screenwriter, producer and director.
Moved his family to Burleson, Texas when he was three years old. He graduated from the film school at the University of Southern California and left Los Angeles, where he wrote short works and took up journalism, combining a hobby with "real work" - in tech support, construction, etc.
Soon he returned to Los Angeles and, disguised as a courier, left his script at many agencies - six months later, one of the agents called Killen.
Killen is the creator of Lone Star and Awakening, both of which were canceled after several episodes of the first season aired - despite critical acclaim, the series' ratings remained rather weak. Killen also wrote the script for the movie Beaver. Before starting work on The Awakening, he lived in Austin, Texas.
