Becoming the eldest of four children in the family of musician Frank Zappa (1940-1993) and businesswoman Gail Zappa (Slotman; born 1945), who were married for 26 years - from September 21, 1967 until Frank's death on December 4, 1993 from prostate cancer in 52 years of age. Moon has two younger brothers and a younger sister: musician Ian Donald Calvin Euclid "Duizil" Zappa (born 05.09.1969), actor Ahmet Emunha Rodan Zappa (born 05.15.1974) and artist Diva Fin Muffin Pigin Zappa (born 30.07 .1979) .
Moon began her musical and acting career in 1982.
