Born June 2, 1953, Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA - American philosopher, writer, theologian, literary critic, actor, civil rights activist and Christian socialist. Member of the Social Democratic Association Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). Professor of Religious Philosophy and Christianity at New York United Theological Seminary. Much of West's writing deals with issues of race, gender, and class in American society. West was influenced by diverse traditions such as the African American Baptist Church, pragmatism, existentialism, and transcendentalism. He starred in the films "The Matrix Reloaded" and "The Matrix: Revolution".
