Born February 28, 1970, Fort Washington, Maryland, USA is an American screenwriter, director, producer, animator, and visual effects creator.

In March 1995, Miller founded Blur Studio, a visual effects, animation and design company, with David Stinnett and Kat Chapman. Miller was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Short in 2005 for the short film Gopher Broke, which he shared with Jeff Fowler.

In March 2008, Miller was appointed producer and director of one of eight animated stories based on Heavy Metal magazine. Also, David Fincher and Kevin Eastman were assigned as producers and directors of each story.

On April 8, 2011, Miller was hired by 20th Century Fox to direct the film Deadpool, based on the Marvel Comics character Deadpool. It was his directorial debut, written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, while Ryan Reynolds starred. Filming began at the end of March 2015 in Vancouver and the film was released on February 11, 2016 (in Russia). Miller was to direct a sequel to the film. Kinberg and Miller also talked about a possible crossover involving Spider-Man. However, in November 2016 it was confirmed that Litch would replace Miller as director of the second installment.

Miller and Jeff Fowler have also directed and produced Blur Studio's animated feature Boob.

David Fincher hired Miller to do the opening cutscene for 2011's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Marvel Studios later did the same for the 2013 film Thor 2: The Kingdom of Darkness, directed by Alan Taylor. The three-minute prologue takes place in Svartalfheim, 5000 years ago, when Malekith fought Odin's father, King Ber, and it was made in 12 weeks, from conception to release. The last splash screen included 75 different frames, most of which were entirely CG.
