He frequently played English aristocrats and made a name for himself on the TV series "The Shelf" in the early 1970s. He is also best known for his role as Charlie Tyrrell in the British TV series "The Duchess of Duke Street" and Ben Carrington in the famous American soap opera "Dynasty". He played in several short stories of the British TV series Judge John Deed .
In 2005-2008, he played the role of Professor Henry Higgins in British and American productions of My Fair Lady.
