Born July 11, 1950, Chicago, Illinois, USA - American screenwriter and actor.

Studied at Catholic Seminary, then at Northwestern University (Illinois), then at Yale School of Drama, where he received an MFA (Master of Fine Arts) degree in drama. Between his university studies, he worked as editor of Foreign Affairs magazine for three years.

The first play, Canvas, was staged in 1972.
