The director was born on March 9, 1963 in Montreal, Jean-Marc Valais filmed his full-length debut "The Black List" / Liste Noire /, which became a real breakthrough for him, in 1995. The visually powerful, stylish erotic thriller was the first of its kind for Quebec cinema, and received nine Genie Award nominations. Ten years later, he returned to French-language films with the worldwide hit "The CRAZY Brothers," combining a story of growing up with a magical ode to outsiders of all ages. A powerful yet caustic, highly personal story in the film raises universal themes. The film has become a real phenomenon: it was released in more than fifty countries, and received about twenty international prizes at festivals - including the prestigious "Best Canadian Film"
