Born November 6, 1952, Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - American writer and producer.

The future writer spent his childhood in Pasadena, California. In 1975, Cunningham received his BA in English Literature from Stanford University, and five years later he completed his MA from the University of Iowa. Cunningham began to publish in the late 1970s, his stories appeared on the pages of famous American literary magazines (The New Yorker, Atlantic Monthly, Paris Review). In 1989, Cunningham's short story White Angel, which later became a chapter in House at World's End, was included in the annual collection of the best American short stories.

In 1990, Michael Cunningham published his first famous novel (A Home At the End Of the World) is a book about two young people and a woman entangled in their love and desires. In 2004, the novel was filmed by Michael Mayer. Colin Farrell played the main role in this low-budget film.

The second novel, Flesh and Blood (1995) is a family saga about emigration to the United States. The search for oneself, an alternative culture, the alienation of loved ones, the disintegration of the traditional family, homosexuality - these and many other aspects of life become the topic of writer's research. This family saga was first published in Russian in September 2010.

The third and most famous novel of the writer "The Clock" was released in 1998. The novel "The Watch" won Cunningham the 1999 Pulitzer Prize. In 2002, it was successfully filmed by British filmmaker Stephen Daldry.

In 2005, Cunningham's fourth novel, Specimen Days, was released.

In 2010, the fifth novel of the writer, By Nightfall, was published, dedicated to the midlife crisis and exploring the state of contemporary art and beauty in the contemporary world.

In May 2014, the author's sixth novel, The Snow Queen, was released in New York.

The last book of the writer is a collection of short prose "The Wild Swan and Other Tales" (A Wild Swan and Other Tales). - published in November 2015.
