Born June 4, 1972, Hermon, Maine, USA - American writer, screenwriter, producer, and actor. Stephen King's son.

Joe has an older sister, LGBT activist Naomi, and a younger brother, also a writer, Owen.

As a child, Joseph starred in the film Kaleidoscope of Horror. He studied English literature at Vassar College, and after graduating in 1995, following the example of his parents, he took up literature.

Wanting to achieve literary success on his own, without using the fame of his father's name, he adopted the pseudonym "Joe Hill". It was both an abbreviation of his real name Joseph and his second name Hillstrom, and alluded to the man in whose honor, in fact, he received the name Joseph Hillstrom - the famous American labor movement activist of the early 20th century and songwriter Joe Hill, who was unjustly accused of murder and executed in an American prison in 1915.

Joseph King began his professional literary career while still a college student. However, for several years Joe Hill's stories were published only in literary magazines.

Only in 2005, Joe Hill was able to convince the British publishing house PS Publishing to publish a collection of his stories "Ghosts of the Twentieth Century" (20th Century Ghosts). Joe Hill's debut collection, published in a small edition, included fourteen stories.

The collection has won recognition among readers and in literary circles and has been awarded the Bram Stoker Prize, British Fantasy Award and International Horror Guild Award. Joe Hill himself won the 2006 William L. Crawford Award for Ghosts of the Twentieth Century for Best Emerging Fantasy Writer. The short story "Voluntary Conclusion" was awarded the World Fantasy Award for Best Novel, and Better Than At Home was awarded the AECoppard Long Fiction Prize. The short stories "Black Telephone" and "Hear the Locust Sing" were nominated for the "British Fantasy Award" -2005.

In February 2007, Joe Hill's debut novel Heart-Shaped Box was released in the USA (in the UK in March 2007). The title of the piece alluded to the Nirvana single "Heart-Shaped Box". Even before the novel was released, Warner Bros. bought the rights to film it. Heart Shaped Box was awarded the Bram Stoker Award and the International Thriller Writers Inc award for Best Debut Novel.

In 2010, the second novel of the writer, entitled "Horns", was released. The presentation of the new novel "NOS4A2" took place in May 2013.
