Born August 4, 1942, Aurora, USA - d. June 29, 2008, Gibsons, Canada - American character actor, artist and captain of the United States Army. In 1965, he received a dual-majoring bachelor's degree in liberal arts and dramatic arts from college at Southwestern Missouri University. For three years he served in the US Army in Korea and retired with the rank of captain. In 1970 he received a master's degree in dramatic arts from the University of Southern Illinois, and in 1982 - a Ph.D.
After moving to Vancouver, Davis worked as a professor at the University of British Columbia, while simultaneously starring in small roles on television. In 1987, he left teaching, which he had been doing for almost 17 years, to devote himself entirely to filming. His first permanent work on television was the television series "Secret Agent MacGyver", starring the actor Richard Dean Anderson. Don Davis appeared in cameo roles in two episodes of the television series, and the rest of the time he worked as a stunt double for a permanent member of the film crew, actor Dana Elkar. In total, Davis starred in about four dozen television series, including Twin Peaks, The X-Files, Dark Zone, West Wing, Beyond the Possible, Poltergeist, Highlander, Supernatural. After playing Major Briggs in Twin Peaks, the actor has often played the military. On the silver screen, he has appeared in small roles in films such as Climber with Sylvester Stallone, Air Prison with Nicholas Cage, Day 6 with Arnold Schwarzenegger, A League of Their Own with Gina Davis.
In 1997, Davis, as General Hammond, began filming the science fiction television series Stargate SG-1, where he again met Richard Dean Anderson. In 2003, due to health problems, he left the television series, but until 2007 he appeared in episodic roles in some episodes of both the television series Stargate SG-1 and its spin-off Stargate Atlantis, and in In 2008 he played in the movie "Stargate: Time Continuum".
