Penelope Russianoff and Her Disability-Rights Legacy
Penelope Russianoff was a New York disability-rights advocate and a longtime leader of Disabled In Action of Metropolitan New York, or DIA. Through DIA, she pushed public agencies, transit systems, property owners, and businesses to remove barriers that kept disabled people from moving through the city and living independently.
