Editorial Policy
Last updated: October 20, 2026
Biographies of Actors publishes biographies of real people. That means every name, date, credit, and life event on this site points to someone who exists outside these pages. This policy explains how we research and write our content, how we use technology in that process, and what we do to keep information accurate, fair, and respectful.
Our Purpose
We aim to give readers clear, reliable, and engaging biographies of American actors and actresses. A good biography should answer the questions people actually have about a performer (where they came from, how their career developed, which roles shaped them) without drifting into rumor or speculation.
Who Creates Our Content
All content on Biographies of Actors is overseen by Kyle Fairmont, our entertainment biography writer and editor. Kyle has followed American film and television for more than a decade, and every biography on this site passes through his hands before it goes live. You can read more about him on our About page.
How We Use AI
We believe readers deserve to know how our content is made, so we’ll be direct about it.
We use artificial intelligence tools to support parts of our workflow, including:
- Gathering and organizing information from publicly available sources
- Research assistance, such as compiling filmographies, career timelines, and award histories
- Outlines and early drafts for some biographies
AI helps us work more efficiently. It does not decide what gets published.
AI tools can make mistakes. They sometimes confuse people who share the same name, mix up dates, or state guesses as if they were facts. Because of that, nothing an AI tool produces is treated as accurate until a person has checked it.
Human Review Before Publishing
No biography is published on this site without a full human review.
Before any content goes live, Kyle Fairmont reviews it line by line. During that review, he:
- Checks key facts such as birth dates, birthplaces, family details, and career milestones against credible sources
- Confirms that film and television credits belong to the correct person, which matters a great deal when several performers share a name
- Removes or corrects anything that cannot be supported by a reliable source
- Rewrites unclear, overstated, or awkward passages so the biography reads naturally and fairly
- Makes sure the content follows the privacy standards described below
If a fact cannot be confirmed, it does not get published as fact.
Our Sourcing Standards
We build our biographies on publicly available, verifiable information. Preferred sources include:
- Official materials from studios, networks, and production companies
- Interviews and statements given by the performers themselves
- Established entertainment news outlets and trade publications
- Recognized film and television databases
- Award organization records and official announcements
- Public records, where appropriate and relevant
We avoid relying on anonymous gossip, unverified social media posts, fan forums, or content farms as factual sources.
When sources disagree, for example when two reputable outlets list different birth years, we either use the detail supported by the strongest source or clearly note that the information varies. We don’t quietly choose one version and present it as settled.
Privacy and Sensitive Topics
Being famous does not erase a person’s right to privacy. Our guidelines:
- We write about what a performer has made public or what is part of the public record.
- We do not publish rumors, speculation about relationships, or guesses about sexual orientation, health, or personal struggles.
- We do not publish home addresses, private contact details, or any information that could put someone’s safety at risk.
- Children and family members who are not public figures receive extra care. We keep details about them minimal and limited to what has been shared publicly.
- Sensitive subjects such as illness, legal matters, or a performer’s death are covered only when well documented by credible sources, and always in a factual and respectful tone.
Keeping Biographies Up to Date
Careers don’t stand still. Actors take on new roles, win awards, and reach new personal milestones. We revisit published biographies over time and update them as new, verified information becomes available. Updated content goes through the same human review as new content before changes appear on the site.
Where a biography has been meaningfully updated, the page reflects the most recent update date.
Corrections Policy
Despite our best efforts, errors can happen. When they do, we fix them.
If you spot a mistake, please email [email protected] with the subject line Correction Request. Include the page link, the detail in question, and a source if you have one. We review every request and correct confirmed errors as quickly as we can.
Performers and their authorized representatives can also contact us to request corrections or raise privacy concerns. These requests are handled with priority. More details are on our Contact page.
Editorial Independence
Biographies of Actors is an independent website. We are not affiliated with any actor, studio, network, or talent agency, and we do not accept payment to include, exclude, or change information in a biography. The site may display advertising to support its operation, but advertisers have no influence over our editorial content.
Changes to This Policy
As our processes and tools evolve, we may update this policy. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
