Born 1967, Berien, Washington is an American screenwriter, director, and producer.
The future director watched his first film by Kurosawa at the age of seven, after which he firmly decided to make films. He graduated from high school in 1985. His talent as a screenwriter became evident after he wrote and directed the play "Fernbusters" in honor of the prom. This performance became a cross between the film "Ghostbusters" and the show "Christmas trees". John Requa himself played the role of the killer.
John's classmates were Dana Newton, Senior Producer of The Oprah Winfrey Show, and Randy Dixon, Head of Wacky Filmmaking Fellowship in Seattle.
The filmmaker graduated from the Film Arts Department at the Pratt Institute in the early 1990s. Within the walls of the educational institution, he met Glenn Ficarr, with whom he is associated with more than twenty years of joint creativity.
The writers' first works were numerous episodes of the animated series "Cool Beavers", which was broadcast on Nickelodeon from 1997 to 2001.
In 2001, their comedy Cats Against Dogs came out, and two years later, the film Bad Santa.
In 2008, the first directorial work of John Requa and Glenn Ficarra was released, I Love You Phillip Morris. The main roles in the comedy were played by Jim Carrey and Evan McGregor. The plot is based on an unusual story about the life of a con man and homosexual Stephen Russell. Society rejects him, but Stephen will never give up love.
In 2011, the second film by the directors called "This - stupid - love" was released.
