Born September 8, 1933, Sangli, British India - one of the most famous and respected voiceover singers in India, the younger sister of Lata Mangeshkar. Bhosle's musical career began in 1943. For over 60 years she has recorded about 13,000 songs. Songs performed by her were performed in more than 1000 films. In 2009, the World Academy of Records officially recognized her as "the most recorded performer in the world." In 2008, Asha Bhosle was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India's second highest civilian government award.
