Daughter of actress Olivia Hussey and musician David Glen Eisley.
Eisley made her film debut in 2003, playing a cameo in the television film Mother Teresa of Calcutta, where her mother was filmed. In 2005, she and her mother starred in the horror film Mystery of the Mind, again in a minor role.
Eisley is best known for the youth series The Secret Life of an American Teenager, in which she has starred since 2008. In the 2012 film Underworld: Awakening, India portrayed Eve, the daughter of the main character in the franchise, the vampire Celine. According to the young actress, Kate Beckinsale, who played Celine, chose her for this role, accidentally seeing her in a cafe. In May 2012, Eisley landed a role in the film Maleficent, where she was supposed to play the witch Maleficent in her youth, but in October 2013 she was replaced by British actress Ella Pernell.
In the fall of 2014, India Eisley starred in British director Bruce Webb's Social Suicide, an interpretation of Shakespeare's story of Romeo and Juliet, set in a modern context and evolving in the world of social media. India introduces Julia (the new Juliet) in the film, and the heroine's parents were played by Leonard Whiting and Olivia Hussey (the actress's real mother), who became famous as Romeo and Juliet in the legendary 1968 film adaptation by Franco Zeffirelli.
