The Dope brothers conceived the idea of ??creating a musical group in 1996. The idea was a success a year after their move to New York, where Dope appeared. They described their style of music as industrial metal. The first team consisted of five people. The beginning of a career as a musician was difficult, I had to engage in drug trafficking in order to earn money to buy instruments, necessary equipment, and distribute the first records. The success came in 1998 when, after several successful club performances, the group signed their first contract with the famous record company Epic / Flip Records. A year later, the debut album Felons and Revolutionaries was released, in support of which the group made a national tour, performing on the same stage with such celebrities as Staind, Mushroomhead.
Watching Dope live is impossible without admiration. Absolute naturalness, powerful energy during the performances brought the group popularity and fame, thanks to which the first album sold over a quarter of a million copies. Encouraged by the success, the members of the band after the end of the tour immediately began recording the second album Life. But at the same time, there was a change in the composition of the group, from the former musicians only the founders remained - Edsel and Simon Dope. This did not prevent the recording of new material, although there were difficulties with the release of the album, since the companies with which contracts were signed for its release could not find a common language. A series of legal proceedings followed, but everything ended well.
Critics and fans alike have noted the dramatically improved professional quality of the music. Life is considered by many to be the most successful album the band has ever released. A successful tour was also held in his support. The group began to create the third collection without Simon Dope, who started producing computer games. How many years Dope have been giving concerts, releasing clips, but interest in them does not fade away. In 2005, they released their fourth album, and four years later their fifth, currently the most recent. But that doesn't mean the group no longer exists.
