Karel Hoger, Honored and People's Artist of Czechoslovakia, was born on June 17, 1909 in the town of Brno Kralovo Pole, at that time in Austria-Hungary. He was the thirteenth child in a large family without income. My father worked in a brick factory, but tried to introduce his children to art, believing that it saves lives. So all the children of the Hoger family were brought up in love for the puppet theater. In the evenings, they often played out whole performances with their families, fortunately, there were enough people for this. Friends and acquaintances of the family were sure that one of the younger Hogers would someday become famous: all the children had charm, charisma and a certain artistry.
In 1928 he entered the Pedagogical Institute and later taught in Lomnica and Tisnov. But the craving for art overpowered everything, and Hoger began studying dramatic art at the Conservatory of Art in Brno, and then played in the local theater. Soon he was noticed and invited to work at the Prague National Theater.
First film with Karel Hoger 100% released in 1938. Three years later, he starred in the film On Quiet Nights. Since then, offers to appear in films and TV series began to pour on his head, he released three or four films a year.
The roles of Karel Hoger were diverse, there are over a hundred of them, and in each he looked great. He played with each character with talent, he was loved on the set for his skill and incredible kindness. Karel Hoger has won numerous titles and awards in Czech cinema. The actor died during the filming of the series Hospital on the outskirts of the city on May 4, 1977.
