In 1922 he graduated from the Conservatory of Dramatic Art in Brno, for many years he was an actor at the National Theater in Prague He made his film debut in 1931. People's Artist of Czechoslovakia (1958).
Passed away on July 13, 1986 in Pilsen, Czechoslovakia.
