Born July 22, 1934, Birmingham, Alabama, USA - American actress.

Her father was an Episcopal priest, and through his efforts some 40 deaf churches were founded in Alabama. Taught to speak and first introduced to acting, hearing aunt. After graduating from the University of North Carolina, Louise moved to Los Angeles and began attending acting school in the evenings.

Fletcher first appeared on screen as a guest actress on a television series; in particular, she played in one of the episodes of the famous television series "Maverick" and "The Untouchables." Due to her excessive height, Fletcher's acting career did not work out: her partners often looked a cut lower. In 1960, Fletcher got married and devoted herself to raising children. Ten years later, at the suggestion of Robert Altman, she resumed her film career and a year later she played her famous role in the film One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Milos Forman. Receiving the "Oscar", Fletcher uttered a seditious phrase: "Sometimes it is great that everyone hates you."
