Imants Kalninsh - biography, date of birth, place of birth, filmography, clips, Composer.
Born May 26, 1941, Riga, Latvia - Latvian composer.
Graduated from the music school. J. Medynya (1960) and the Latvian State Conservatory. J. Vitola (1964, composition class of Adolf Skulte). At the same time he was actively involved in rock music.
Taught at the Liepaja Secondary Music School (1964-1967). Creator of music for performances in Latvian theaters, films and cartoons of the Riga Film Studio. Music to the film "Vei, Breeze!" (1973, directed by Gunar Piesis) was awarded at the All-Union Film Festival in Baku (1974). For the soundtrack to the film "Sonata over the Lake" (1976, directed by Gunars Tsilinsky and Varis Brasla) he was awarded the State Prize of the Latvian SSR (1977).
Deputy of the Supreme Soviet (1990-1993), deputy of the 9th Seimas from the national-conservative political party "Fatherland and Freedom / DNNL". In 2010 he joined the Union of Greens and Peasants. In 2012 he converted to Islam.
