Was born on September 24, 1944 in Ventspils, Latvian SSR, USSR.
Graduated from the 2nd Riga Secondary School (1963) and the theater department of the Latvian State Conservatory named after J. Vitola (1971) .
From 1966 to 1979 he was an actor of the Drama Theater named after I. A. Upita (National Theater), Deputy Director of the State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater of the Latvian SSR (1979-1990), Director of the Alko Film Studio, Member of the Board of the Latvian Puppet Theater, Director of the State Latvian Puppet Theater.
